lived experience
3 weeks after I lost my job in 2016,
my son Zake took his life.
It's been 8 years now and they haven't been easy years. I'd be lying if I said things are perfectly ok when I think of my son, becaues they aren't. But gee, I have come a long, long way too, in those 8 years!
Grief can be a very difficult thing to experience, and it's complex in regards to suicide loss.
I know it's possible to get better from grief because it's something that I'm doing.
Getting better from grief means I am more able to think of my son with gratitude instead of pain and sorrow. Getting better from grief means there are less days I feel paralysed, depressed, sad. I'm pretty sure Zake is pretty glad about that too!
And when you are stuck in it, you can't see the wood for the trees. Or you might feel like you are drowning and you are living in a nightmare. It's an uncomfortable space to be in, and a space that was my life. I now have a fire in my belly to make a difference.
I have spent the last few years training in counselling and other mental health modalities so that I can help people get better from grief. I even got to work with Dr Connelly with his book, Grief is NOT Sacred. I've explored so many different things and all that comes together now in what you find here.
MORE INDEPTH BACKGROUND
I especially love working with story and symbols, as well as offering precscriptive art and readings with oracles. I'm the author of Oracle of the Dreamtime, 1998.
I am also a graphic designer and love doing layouts of things, creating digital art, illustrating and copywriting. Since my son passed, my focus has really changed. I don't have ambition in the mainstream sense. I just want a meaningful life.
I used to be a successful glass artist, exhibited and travelled internationally.
I trained as a practitioner in Holistic Pulsing with Tovi Browning. I worked with Robert Bruce when he was writing his Astral Dynamics book. I've studied or explored many alternative healing modalities and esoteric teachings.
I have a Diploma in Counselling (2022), 250+ hours training in Rapid Resolution Therapy and have undertaken other professional development workshops in different modalities and approaches including Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS) and Advanced Conversational Hypnosis (ACH). I have a fascination with metaphors and archetypes and how they can impact someone's experience of grief.
